I have a marriage of John Joyce to Eliza Anne Wallen of Dramboe Abbey Donegal, the scan of the Newspaper, is poor and the name of the Abbey could be mis spelt as I cant find another reference to it, the marriage is at Stranolar Church Donegal. Any help with the Spelling or other information would be appreciated

  • Drumboe Upper and Drumboe Lower are in the Civil Parish of Stranorlar, Barony of Raphoe.

Please see attached in relation to the Abbey and Drumboe Castle.

  • Probate abstract:

Letters of Administration (with the Will annexed) of the personal estate of Henry Alexander Wallen late of Stranorlar County Donegal M.D. who died 15 February 1893 at same place were granted at Londonderry to Alexander Richard Joyce of Eastbourne County Sussex late Staff Surgeon R.N. the Nephew and Residuary Legatee.

The will itself (dated June 1884) is on-line on the PRONI wills site. It mentions nieces and nephews Eleanor Fitzgerald, Edward Joyce, Mary Eleanor Joyce & Alexander Richard Joyce, Staff Surgeon RN “now on the China station.”
