John died in 1934 and was buried in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Rochelle, New York.  At the time of his death he had not been naturalized as a citizen. They had married on 11th February 1914 in New Rochelle, New York. She had lawfully entered the United States through Boston, Massachusetts on 20th August 1909 having traveled on board the Cymric on the White Star Line.

At this stage her three children were Margaret Schneider born 30th January 1915, John Yorke born 11th September 1918, and Gloria Bacon born 3rd October, 1925 all born in New Rochelle. She was then living at 27, Verplanck Avenue, Beacon, New York. Her form was witnessed by Charles Schneider who lived at the same address and Charles Schneider who lived at Rossway Road, Pleasant Valley Dutchess, New York. Elizabeth completed her Oath of Allegiance on 2nd April 1955.

Elizabeth died in September 1980 and her last address was 12572, Rhinebeck, Dutchess, New York, USA.

Mary Gardiner, John’s granddaughter completes this history. Her father John (Jack) was 17 when his father John died. His grandchildren never got to meet him. Jack had nine children, three girls and six boys: Dianne 1941-2005, Michael 1944-2008, Karen 1946, John (Jack) 1948, Jim 1949, Mary 1952, Joe 1953, Will 1957 and Pete 1959. They were all born in New Rochelle. Their father was a Vice President of 7-UP Bottling Co. Unfortunately, he passed away in August 1962, leaving his wife to rear eight children (Dianne had married previously in June 1960).  They now use York as the preferred spelling of their surname.
