My great great grandmother was Anne Bennett. Her parents were Bryan Bennett and Bridget (Biddy) Garty. She was born at Geehanstown? Westmeath?.
Parish records show she was baptised in the parish of Clonmellon on 25/11/1843. The witnesses were John Bennett and Catherine Coyle.
Other siblings baptised in the same parish were: John 1/3/1827, Mary 3/4/1830, Bryan 17/2/1832, Joseph 30/4/1834, James 17/4/1836.
Anne married my great great grandfather Bartholomew Brady on 26/11/1864 in County Westmeath.
They boarded the ship "Sunda" at Queenstown on 20/2/1865 and arrived in Queensland Australia on 23/5/1865.
They settled on the Darling Downs in Queensland and were farmers and sawmillers. They had 14 children and to this day is a very large family. My great grandfather James was one of those 14 children.
