Bernard Cornelius McManus, born 10 April 1860 at Coolkill, Fermanagh sailed for Christchurch, New Zealand on the ship "Rangitiki" on 19 July 1879. He was aged 19 years and was sponsored by (I presume) his sister Bridget who had sailed on "Rakaia" with Mary Ann on 7 September 1877.
Their parents were Con McManus & Mary Connolly who were married in February 1855, at Coolkill, Fermanagh. Con & Mary had 7 children, the 5th being Dennis, whose descendants still live in the Coolkill area.
Bernard married Catherine Fox in Wellington, New Zealand 7 February 1885 & they went on to have 6 children.
