I'm interested in this couple. I am researching a Harrison / Lowrey couple that were also likely from the Tavrane area. Here is the marriage record for Thomas Grogan and Bridget Harrison. https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re… What is the place of residence for Bridget? It's not Shammer -- maybe Shammerhora??
Bridget lived in Tavrane with Thomas Grogan, her husband, who was a shopkeeper and farmer, and their children. Bridget and Thomas had been married for over 40 years when he died in 1912. Bridget spoke Irish and English and could read and write. She was vague about her age, like many Irish people of her generation, including her sister-in-law, Bridget Grogan. Dominick, her son who was informant of her death, was unaware of her real age.
Bridget had a brush with the law, accused of being in possession of stolen wood.

Hello, Gerry.
Bridget's residence was Shanvara which, I've now learned, was an old name for Tavrane or a part of Tavrane, perhaps a sub-townland? That means Bridget didn't move far. I get confused with townlands beginning "Sha...", coupled with hard to read handwriting.
I was also told that Harrison was an Anglicisation of HORAHOE. There was a Thomas Horaho in Tavraun townland on Griffith Valuation. He was on the same parcel of land (9) as Roger Horaho and somebody named Grennan. John Horaho was listed with James Forkan and Patrick Egan in Tavraun townland (10).
Bridget Harrison was not my direct ancestor. I put her on here for St. Brigid's Day, along with 3 other women named Bridget in my family tree. They were the first ancestors I've added. I intend to edit their profiles and add more sources. I managed to lose the profile of my youngest Bridget, who was for another parish, so I'll have to do her again.
Bridget Harrison was born before civil registration of births began and before surviving baptism registers for Kilmovee. I don't know the name of her mother.
I only began looking at Harrison and Horaho families last week so I don't know much about them. To complicate matters, in the next generation, a Harrison married a Harrison.
Who were your Harrison and Lowrey and when were they likely to have been in Tavrane?

Thanks for your reply.
I have William Harrison ~1834 - 1893 m. Mary Lowrey ~1836 - 1908. They married 1858 in Selby, Yorkshire, England and emigrated to Pittsburgh around 1887. Both fathers were listed as Patrick on their marriage record.
I am only guessing that this couple is from the Tavrane area. There are many, many DNA matches with Lowrey, Horan, Forkan, and Grogan ancestors from the general area.
