Bridget McKeigue of Loughturk, age 16, marr. John Kenny, of Attecoffey, age 24. They had 14 children. One of the younger children, was Ellen Kenny, my grandmother.

Ellen Kenny marr. John Hogan, Fahy, and they had 11 children. My mother, Eileen Hogan was the second youngest, born September 11, 1912.

I have been working on the family tree for many years and have a few relatives still in the area. In all the visits to Ireland, from Canada, I have never visited Clontuskert. It's time for me to learn about my Granny's roots, and learn as much as I can about the Kenny and McKeigue families.

I'm hoping there's someone in the area who knows a little about these families.

Many many thanks,

Cathy Woodburn, London, Ontario, Canada

  • Cathy,  i am not sure how I came across your message. But I have some knowledge of the Clontuskert Kennys. Ellen's brother Peter immigrated to NJ in 1895. He lived to 96. There is an excellent blog on his history I can send you. I do not have any information on Ellen other than the 1911 Irish census that showed grandchildren Martin and Annie Hogan living with widow Bridget Kenny. You can reach me at avignonmike@icloud.com. Hello Mike,

I'm assuming you're related to the Clontuskert Kenny family, and that we are, therefore, kin.

      Welcome to the family.

I was so pleased to hear from you.

I actually have the 1901 and 1911 Census info.

And I have a little info on my mother's Uncle Peter. But please go ahead and send what you have in case it's new to me.

Which of the Kenny siblings are you descended from?

Granny Ellen Kenny Hogan, and John Hogan had 11 children that survived. Did you ever meet any of my mother's (Eileen Hogan Woodburn) siblings? Jack Hogan of Fahy, Lena Hogan Flanagan of Derrahiney just to mention a couple.

I used to visit (from Canada) my Auntie Kitty in Derrahiney, and over the years met some of the relatives.

I live in London Ontario Canada, and I'm a retired high school teacher of French.

My children are nearly 40. One is in Europe, the other in a city about an hour away.

    How about you?

    Do you live in Ireland?

    Do you have children?

My big question is - do you have any information/stories etc about the Kenny's? As far back as you can go.

I would be very interested to hear them.

    All the best,

    Cathy Woodburn
