Parents were Christopher/Thomas Barrett and Ann Smyth (to my knowledge).  He migrated to England sometime around 1840.  He married Ann Singleton on Nov 1, 1842 in Preston, Lancashire.  His first son, Thomas - my great grandfather,  was born on Feb. 2, 1843 in Upper Holker, Cartmel (Westmoreland) Lancashire, Where Christopher is listed as an Ordnance Surveyor.  According to Census records, by 1848 he is in Blackburn Lancashire where his son William is born.  In 1850 his son Christopher is born, and in 1855 his daughter Elizabeth is born.  The latter three were born in Blackburn where Christopher was a coal man on the trains.  They lived on Darwen St.

His son William died of pneumonia on Feb. 14, 1852.

Christopher died at 25 Railway Walk in Birkdale, Southport, Lancashire and is buried at Duke Cemetery.
