I am just curious about this Denis D Gleeson post. My ancestors were a little futher along the Shannon in Clonlara. I would be very interested to know who this persons parents were please. And if there is a baptismal record for this Denis D Gleeson.

On Ancestry I have found 3 Denis Gleesons born in 1866, but one in Limerick and the other two in Silvermines Tipperary.

However a friend of mine in Australia perchance has some information about his Ancestor Crowe of Sixmilebridge and family oral history recalls that Crowe came to Australia to the gold fields with his best friend Michael Gleeson. I have not trace of this Michael as well.

Denis D. Gleeson ws my grandfather. He was born in Sixmilebridge. It is very possible that Micahel Gleeson, if he was from the same area, could be my grandfather's uncle. I have little information about my great grandfather and his siblings.

There is a baptismal record for him and I would like to put a picture of it here, but this editor does not allow that. He was baptized on 3 May 1863 in Sixmilebridge, County Clare (in the Diocese of Killaloe). His father was Patrick Gleeson and his mother was Elizabeth McNamara.

The record shows the name Gleeson being spelled as Gleason and names his father as Pat and his mother as Eliza Mack.

I'd be happy to hear if you find any connection.

Thanks for the response Margaret. I really have no information at all about this Michael Gleeson, except for this bit of oral history I mentioned. I tried to find the record of Denis you mentioned using Roots Ireland but no luck, so it is not picking that record up. And I cant find a baptismal record for a Michael Gleeson in the Killaloe area either but the fact that I am not picking up Denis and your clearly have does not give me a lot of confidence.
