When Eliza Poe Elliott was born on 30 June 1886 in Fermanagh, Ireland, her father, William, was 39, and her mother, Annie, was 18.
In May 1886 Eliza departed from London, England bound for Fremantle, Western Australia on board the SS Minora with her parents William and Annie and her siblings Thomas and Rebecca. They arrived in Fremantle on 3 July 1887.
She married William George Mayes in 1907 in Australia. They had seven children in 14 years.
She died on 17 June 1971 in York, Western Australia at the age of 84.
