Comments
In the 1938 census, Ellen lists her birthplace as Kilmallock, Effin, Limerick.
Limerick had plenty of Ellen Ryans born c. 1877-79. In searching for 'our' Ellen, am trying to narrow down the possibilities by looking at birth and baptism records for Ellen Ryans born at that time in Limerick.
Which of these locations is near Killmallock: Kilteely & Drumkeen? Killeagh? Rathkeale? Newport? Dearpark? Knocktoran?
In the 1901 census, Ellen was being visted by a Mary A. Ryan, age 20. A younger sister, perhaps?

Wednesday, June 26, 2019, 01:31Aha! Disregard above. (This is a work in progress) Ellen Ryan listed her date of birth as 7 September 1878. That rules out many of the baptism record options offered by Amcestry, com.

Thursday, December 5, 2019, 09:51When Searching the Census for Effin the two DED areas to check are Tobernea and Ballymacshaneboy.
I searched for Thomas Ryan and Catherine Ryan. I found one Thomas Ryan living in Garranekeagh, aged 46 with a sone Cornelius aged 16. no wife so he may be widowed or she may have been away visiting. If this is Thomas mentioned above he would have been born in 1855 and at least 23 when Ellen above was born.
I found a marriage record for Thomas Ryan and Catherine Regan! on Dec 28th 1873.

Thursday, December 5, 2019, 10:17I have a Katherine Ryan, born around 1800 who married William Carroll (b abt 1794) likely in southern Co. Limerick. They had 3 children:
Patrick Carroll (May 1823-1869)
Mary Carroll (1827-1902) my ancestor
Ellen E Carroll - altho no real proof of that. She immigrated to USA about 1850 according to the1900 US Federal Census record. She would have been 9 years of age and presumably arriving with relatives. But we know the parents were still in Bruree, Limerick in 1853 from Griffiths evaluations.
She married Patrick Day in St. Paul, MN in 1866. They had 3 sons and lived in Oakdale, Washington Co., MN. She died at the age of 77 in Ramsey Co., MN
Maybe/maybe not a connection.
