Hugh McKenna was born in 1859 in Ireland to Mary Ann McKenny [c1835 –bf1911], age 24, and James McKenna [Jul 1830- aft 1901], age 29. He was baptized Derrynoose, Armagh, Ireland.
Hugh and most of his family was employed as a damask weaver at the Milford Weaving Factory [1808 -1980], operated by Robert McCrum & Co., owned by Robert Garmany Mc Crum, who designed and built nearby Milford House as well as the Victorian era model village of Milford, Lisnadill Parish, Co. Armagh, Ireland.
On 18 Feb 1884 in Armagh, at the Roman Catholic Chapel, Hugh McKenna, 25 yrs. married Annie Corr, 24 yrs. of Armagh, the daughter of Henry Corr (living) Labourer. Witnesses were Patrick Gollaghy and Mary Duncan. Hugh and Annie lived at 16 Ann Street, Millford Village and attended Mass at St. Patrick’s R.C. Cathedral in Armagh.

Hugh McKenna died sometime after the 1911 Census. According to a very elderly neighbor interviewed in 2016, Hugh was alive when his son Hugh James Leo McKenna died in France during WW1.
