Hello,

Thanks for reading the bio of our James Connor aka James O'Connor.  A quick summary:

  • James Connor was born in born in Farrankeal, Killeentierna on Jan. 28, 1837.  

  • His parents were Bernard/Brian Connor (born Mar. 31, 1807 to Michael Connor and Catherine Flynn in Tralee Parish), and Catherine Kearney ((born to Patrick Kearney and Catherine Slatery on Nov. 16, 1807 in Ballindrohid, Killeentierna).  Bernard and Catherine were married in Ballindrohid on January 17, 1830.  Siblings to Bernard were Patrick Connor, born 5 April 1830 at Ballindrohid and Brian Connor, Aug. 28, 1834, at Ballindrohid.

  • James Connor's paternal aunts and uncles were: Daniel Connor (1809), Margaret Connor (1811), Michael Connor (1816) Thomas Connor (1819), and Ellen Connor (1825) - all born in Tralee Parish.

  • James emigrated to New Zealand around 1866

  • He married Oline Olsdatter (aka Lena, Lina, Olliva and Olive Olsen) who was from Norway.  They married in Christchurch in 1875 and settled initailly in Southbridge, but spent the bulk of their married lives in Chertsey.

  • He had 7 children, 5 of which died young, and only one child, Brian (baptised Bernard-Bryan) O'Connor, married and had children.  Brian married Alice Emily Santy, and lived in Rakaia, NZ.

  • James died at Chertsey, Canterbury, New Zealand in 1919

  • James is buried at Ashburton Cemetery, Canterbury, New Zealand.

 

NB: James' parents/grandparents names are not yet confirmed.  The ancestors of James above are linked to us via Irish family naming traditions.  We are hoping to find a genetic relationship to confirm, as we have no supporting documents.
