My great-great grandfather was Jeremiah "Darby" Hogan. He married Ann "Nancy" Whelan/Whalan in Borrisokane in October 1846. Later on, they lived in the Cloughjordan area in Ballyrickard, and were there when Jeremiah died in 1885. Anne lived with her son James until sometime in the early 1900s and on the 1911 census (aged 95) she is shown living with her daughter Mary who married Cornelius Heffernan. I cannot find her death record.
There were other Hogan children of the marriage who all came to Australia at different times: Bridget and husband Patrick (also a Hogan but not related as far as we know); Ellen; Michael and John.
I am looking for any information about this family so that I can hopefully find out the names of Jeremiah's parents and Anne's parents. Any assistance will be greatfully received.

Hi Margot,
Thanks for your efforts on my behalf but I have already considered this death record and ruled it out as being "my" Anne. The reason is that the name of the informant, May Hogan, grandaughter, does not appear to be a descendant of my Jeremiah and Anne. In 1920 when this Anne Hogan died, the only son they had who could have been May Hogan's father was James Hogan b. 1854. He only had two daughters - Annie b. 1907 and Elizabeth b. 1910.
I did a census search of May Hogan and found that she was the daughter of a Martin Hogan and his wife Margaret. They appear on the 1911 census in Carrigatoher and an Anne Hogan is listed on that census as living with them. At that stage she was listed as being 90 yrs old (so she aged quite quickly by the time she died in 1920 :)). I have not been able to place this man, Martin Hogan in my family, and have therefore concluded that this was a different Anne Hogan to my 2 x great grandmother.
Again, thanks a lot for your interest and assistance.
Warm wishes
Julie
