Jeremiah was born c1812 in Munsea/Monsea, Co. Tipperary, IRELAND.  He married Mary Whealey/Wheeley 4.2.1838 in Co. Tipperary.  

 7.1.1842  he arrived in Australia per "Wilson" with wife Mary and. child John 21/2 years. plus female child.     "Wilson" departed Greenock 3.9.1841.  Jeremiah's occupation was a Carpenter.   His religion  Catholic. He could read & write.    He was a native of Mansea/Munsea, Co. Tipperary.   Bounty 19 pounds; Mary 19pounds;  John 5 pounds and female child 5 pounds.  He was brought out by Mr. John Miller  - A carpenter of 28years.  Parents were both alive. (John Hough & Alice Healy).   Baptism Joseph Douns P.P. and Character Cert. from James League.   State of bodily health/Strength  and general usefullness.  - very good and likely to be useful.         His wife Mary was 27years  and her parents (Patrick & Margaret Wheely ) were both alive.   She was a Farm Servant and could read only.  Character Ref. James League and another of Selsborough, Nenagh.  John 21/2 on 5.11.1838.

They settled in Burrowa where Jeremiah was the  Teacher at a Catholic school that was also open to all sects. (A slab and bark building but in 1852 a school house was to be built to accommodate boarders).    He was the  first Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages.   His brother Thomas - a Stonemason - and his wife Margaret Murphy were already settled in Burrowa.      Jeremiah died in1874 from Paralysis, duration of 4 years.  Age 60years and a Farmer - leaving 3 male and 3 female children. 4 male and 3 female children had predeceased him plus wife Mary. He had been 30 years in New South Wales.
