My G.G. Grandfather was JOHN COSTIGAN.  Born ? Circa 1803 - ? Tipperary Ireland. 
Baptised 28 Aug 1803 • Clonmel, Co Tipperary, Ireland.  Baptism record from Roots Ireland - At St Mary's Clonmel. Mother recorded as Alice, father Unknown Costigan. Sponsors Richard Cory/Gory and Margaret McDonnel.  Believed Deceased prior to November 1862.  Occupation: ‘Cottier’ – Farmer on rented land.

G.G. GrandMother was HONORA CLEARY. Born Circa 1797.   Baptised 4 Apr 1797 • Newport, Tipperary, Ireland.  Baptismal record on Roots Ireland. Father Patrick Cleary, Mother Margaret Ryan. Sponsors John Ryan and Anna Phillips.

William Costigan – Baptised 25.12.1823 New Inn, Sponsors Michael Bull and Johanna Fitzgerald.  Ref New Inn/73.   Source Citation for Ireland, Catholic Parish Registers, 1655-1915.  Mother recorded as Honora Clay.   Nothing further found.

Catherine Costigan – Baptised 19.4.1827 New Inn, Address Loughkent, Sponsors Laurence Doherty and Ellen Fitzgerald.  Ref. New Inn/74.     Nothing further found.

MICHAEL COSTIGAN (My G. Grandfather) – Baptised 15.9.1830 New Inn –  Address Marlhill, Sponsors Maurice Lonergan and Bridget Doherty. Ref New Inn/74.   Michael Joseph Costigan Married Mary Frances Donoghue 16 November 1862 • St John the Evangelist, Islington, Greater London, Middlesex, England.  Michael Costigan left Ireland and went to England, sadly no record has been found so date is not known.  We pick him up again in 1862 when he married Mary Donoghue in Islington.   In 1862 Michael was living at 5 Popham Place, Islington up to the time of his marriage. It is not known where they lived from November 1862 till they sailed to Australia on 13th December 1863.

MARY FRANCES DONOGHUE Born Circa Jun 1837 • Carrigastana New Inn Cashel, Tipperary, Ireland.  3 Sources.   Baptism: 13 Jun 1837 • New Inn Parish, Tipperary, Ireland.  New Inn/97 Register Sponsors Patrick Bolan & Mary Fitzgerald.  1 Source.   In 1851 Mary is in England, a 16 year old servant living with the Bailey family at 26 Grays Inn Lane, Holborn St Andrew. 1 Source 1851 Census.  I have no idea how she met Michael Costigan, but she married him on 16 November 1862 at St John the Evangelist, Islington, Greater London, Middlesex, England.  In 1862 Mary was living at 13 Canonbury Square, Islington up to the time of her marriage.

Michael and Mary Costigan had their first child in England, John Thomas Costigan was born on 28 Aug 1863, and Baptised on 13 Sep 1863 at St John the Evangelist, Islington, Islington, Greater London, Middlesex, England.  His Godparents were Alfred Benham & Catherine Donoghue (Mary's older sister born 1835).   

Michael and Mary Costigan, along with baby John Thomas and Mary's sister Catherine Donoghue,  sailed  from Liverpool on the "Prince Consort", arriving in Wide Bay Queensland on 30 March 1864.  Source Queensland State Archives.
