John Joseph Dalton, my grandfather, was born in Barrettstown, Kilkenny. He was a Knocktopher hurler and we have a medal from a team win around 1910. He arrived in New York in May 1913 and met his future wife, Bridget Hu(v)ane on this ship. They were married in 1916 and had 9 children, sadly losing their first child, Mary, as an infant. They raised their children in Brooklyn and both John and Bridget died too young, two years apart in 1934 and 1936, respectively, leaving 8 children to be raised by their older siblings and relatives.
