John Sullivan was at some stage in the 97th Regiment. He was pensioned out with leg problems. His record states that he was previously pensioned out due to a lung problem. I found a Chelsea Pensioner record which fits and it states he was born in Killarney, Kerry. I understand he was born around 1804. His record from the Port Arthur penitentiary notes "Kinnear". This would normally be the name of a convicts transportation ship but I can find no record of a John Sullivan on the Kinnear. All in all, my longest running mystery person.

My g g grandfather Humphrey Sullivan was in Sydney around 1806 in the 74th Regiment.Pensioned out with leg injuries,he returned to Killarney and was a publican
His son Eugene born 1819 served in the 55th Regiment in China and India, and after 1848 came to Victoria Australia to pursue gold mining
Eugene was joined mining later at Eganstown Victoria by brothers Humphrey and Daniel and sister Mary
