Julia Kirby is my gr grandmother. I have no information about her parents or siblings. She emigrated to the US, possibly living with her parents in Hartford, Connecticut, where she married Timothy Burns on Feb. 21, 1884. The following year she, her husband , and Timothy's three children by his first wife Mary Ellen Houlihan returned to Killarney where their daughter Bridget was born in January 1884. I have not been able to find any information about the Kirbys or the Houlihans (sometimes spelled O'Houlihan or Howlehan).
I have found Julia and Timothy on the 1901 and 1911 census living at 3 Rock Lane in Kenmare. From family stories, I know that Julia worked as a laundress for the Poor Clares and learned lacemaking there too. Perhaps Timothy Burns worked as a laborer at the Kenmare Quarry?
