I am trying to find details for my grandmother. Born to Samuel and Lizzie Hillis about 1890 but cant find birth record. Her parents married in 1883 in Newton Hamilton
She was one of 11 children. The census reports have one child down as James and William but they are the same person so Lily was missed off somewhere. Not sure what her first name was as all the family went by different names and records of dates are very misleading.
The info that I have that is right is in her later life
She was called Lillie Ditta in 1912 when she had Elizabeth Ditta in Birr by an Indian Barrister. (which I'm sure would have caused a stir then) the barrister Tekoo Ram Ditta has a trail on him including his records from Grays Inn.
Can't find marriage. She had my father Lionel Ditta in London in 1913-unknown father. In 1918 she married Angelo Cardosi age 28.in 1939 she is in Westminster as Lillian Cardosi dob 11/2/91, can't find any birth record to match. She is in electrol register in London in 1940/50.
She died in 1962 in Holburn aged 74. Name listed as Lillie Cardosi, otherwise Elizabeth.
As I dont have her birth details I cant find her in the census. There have been a few names that seem right but there are no birth records to match the cenus.
All the other family have various records, trails all over the world on them.
