  • Additional information, such as place of Birth or Baptism, and place of death in Australia is necessary.
The dates of birth and death should come with a location.
    BURN(s), BYRNE(s) are common surnames.

  • That is fantastic, seeing the NLI scan of her Baptism all those years ago.  The NLI scans are fantastic and free online.

She was baptised in the Parish of Armagh, in the Diocese of Armagh, and also in County Armagh.  The NLI online also has map information to show the location of each Parish within its Diocese.

A shame the 'residence' or townland of either/both parents was not recorded on 31 Dec 1836. Some clerics write a placename, but not all. However the name of the Sponsor is another lead to follow.

Somewhere online are free facilities that point to the location of RC churches within each Parish.  In your case Parish of Armagh, within Diocese of Armagh. Assuming the parents had other family members nearby, you may be able to trace their whereabouts for Baptisms and Marriages.

I'll have a scout for the site that gives location of RC church buildings within a given Parish. Thus, you can equate the location within Armagh Parish (as it was in 1836) to a map of townlands and then to a modern map today.

  • The site by John Grenham  ( https://www.johngrenham.com ) basically tells you what you already know.

Another, by Shane Wilson is what has helped previously.  Specifically (https://www.swilson.info/rcparishbrws.php )  informs that in the Parish of Armagh, within the Dio. of Armagh, were 3 "Chapels"  :  "Armagh", "Annacramph twnl." and "Tullysaran chapel".

Note the word (left of screen) Armagh  brings you to another page with location of these 3 chapels on a modern map.   I'll leave you to explore and praise the wonderful work of swilson.

Another idea is to contact the archivist at NLI and ask "from which church/chapel location in Armagh Parish is this record (Dec. 1836)?"

    Best wishes
