Mary Chadwick was my great grandmother. She married William Cormack, my great granfather in 1869 and on the marriage certificate lists her parents as John Chadwick, Tradesman, and Eliza O'Donnell and her birthplace as Tipperary. She gives her age as 22.

The only possible arrival I have found for her is on the ship Eagle which arrived in Melbourne in 1855, having left Liverpool on 23 Dec 1854. The passenger list shows Elizabeth Chadwick (45) travelling with 2 children, William (12) and Mary (8). This is about the right age for Mary but the passenger list gives them as English so I don't know whether that is a mistake or is correct and so she is not the Mary Chadwick I am looking for.

A baptismal record from the parish of Tipperary shows a Mary Chadwick baptised on 25 Dec 1845 at St Michaels in Tipperary, Tipperary to parents John Chadwick and Ally O'Donnell. The sponsors were Edmund and Catherine O'Dea. I am presuming this is my great grandmother. I have not been able to find anything more about her father John or her mother and possible sibling, William.

She and my great grandfather had 6 children including my grandfather William born in 1876 who produced my mother Eileen McCormick in 1916. They lived in Footscray, a suburb of Melbourne.

She died in Elsternwick, Victoria on 14 Jun 1931
