I believe that my Great, Great, Great Grandfather was born in Killashee in 1825. On the Scottish birth cert for his son, also Matthew, dated 14 August 1855, he is listed as being aged 30. There are no parent details for Matthew senior as he is noted as being "iilegitimate". If this was the case would his birth have been registered in Ireland at that time? If so, where could I look for details?
I believe that he is the son of a David Harris and Mary Anderson who were married in 1824 in Killashee. Perhaps David was not the actual father but allowed the boy to take his name. Is this possible?
