Comments

  • Michael was in fact born to Richard Heaps at Kells (Meath) in 1809 but there were Heaps who were freeholders at Rathmolyon in 1785,these being Joseph,Michael,Richard at Kill Beg and a Richard at the Glebe in Rathmolyon.By 1802 0nly Joseph remained and a Joseph Heaps would remain at Kill Bog tilll 1911.Michael still had a connection with Rathmolyon as Joseph and Edward Gee were part of the same Protestant church in 1802.Edwards's sons immigrated to Van Diemens Land as did Michael Heaps, although the oral connection to the family has been through his wife Jane Guynan whose mother was Anne Walton of Kells,Kilkenny.
