My great great grandfather , I was told came from Westport County Mayo , he was Michael Malia , from O'malley, on the Uk census returns particularly the 1911 return his place of birth he has given as what appears to be Balaclave, Co Mayo . I am aware that the english enumerators conducting the census would have been using the phonetic information and wrote it down as they heard it may not be exactly that. He married Mary Seward born in Ormskirk Lanncashire whos parents had emigrated from the Castlebar area . I knkow Michael kept in contact with his relatives at home as he wrote often , my grandmother his grandaughter used to post his letters for him , sadly that is all I know and would love rto find out more but I am stuck ! His children were , John , James, Isabella, Honorah,Ellen Sarah and Polly, all considered themselves very much Irish although born in england and nthat feeling of home and belonging to Eire has never left us , any help much apreciated
