I just came across this record of Michael Murphy owning property on River Street in Killendaule.

THe record is Ireland vaulation records 1824-1856.

Micahel Murphy's baptismal reocrd shows that he was baptized on June 30, 1815.

His parents were Thomas Murphy and Catherine Forgarty.

Thomas Murphy is also listed as owning a garden house on River street at about the same time.

can anyone tell me what the present location of where these proerties are and if the builings are still in tact today?

Thank you

  • Hi,

I read the aricle about you researching ancestors from Killenaule...I'm also researching my great grandmother from Killenaule! Her name is Margaret Leahy. Margaret's mother's maiden name was Morrissy. Do you have these names in your tree by chance? Are you interested in sharing information?    -Terri

  • Hi Terry, Nice to hear from you. My family tree is public on ancestry.com. The research that I have done shows Thomas Murphy married Catherine Fogary about 1800 and Their son Michael Murphy was married to Bridget Daniel. Their son Jerimiah Murphy was married to Bright Wright. These are the only other surnames of people that married Murphys in Killenaule that I know of.

My wife and I traveled to Ireland and visited Killenaule in September of this year (2021). Ireland reaching out was so kind to connect me that a geneolgist named Noreen Maher. She is a geneologist whose family is an area near Killenaule. She was so kind to meet me there a talk to me about the history of Killenaule. Her email address is hiberniaroots@gmail.com and her website is hiberniaroots..com. She has great knowlegde of Irish ancestry and partiularly information about Killennaule.

By the way the people of the town were wonderful,.

They tried to help me find Murphy relatives in the area but unfortunatley. I was only there for one day.

I left my phone number with the proprietor of an small store and shortly thereafter a murphy counsin actually called me.

I plan to go back and visit  in the near future.

Let me know how your search goes. Killenaule is such a small town, it would not surprize me to learn that we have some mutual counsins.

    Best Regards,

    Jame Murphy
