Wife Martha Crawford and their children Sarah, Martha, Authur, Elizabeth, James, Anna, William and Joseph all emigrated to America mid-1860s and initially settled in Connecticut, some of the children later settled in St. Louis, Missouri, and Shenandoah, Iowa. They did not all emigrate at the same time.
Martha returned with Owen back to Ireland because the climate did not agree with Owen. However, Martha found it lonesome without her children and returned within the same year back to Connecticut.
Owen died approximately three years after returning to Ireland.
