Patrick Carty was born in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, on 3rd December 1881. He married Eliza Cahill whilst age 30 in 1910, and died 12th June 1949 age 68.

Along with his brother Peter, they worked their stone quarry which was located by the side of Vinegar Hill, just outside Enniscorthy, and where they were both seriously injured after an explosion. But, despite both suffering appalling injuries, survived to tell the tale.

During the 1916 rebellion, Patrick was reported to have not only provided explosives for the rebel cause, but also instructed in its use.
