Patrick Lahey was born about 1777. His calculated year of birth is based on his interment record found in the St. Patrick parish register, Railton, Ontario, Canada. His calculated with year base on the 1851 Canada West census is 1778.
Patrick Lahey married Alice (Ally) Ryan (abt. 1784-15 Nov. 1884). Note that Alice's birth year varies depending upon the source: according to her obituary, her calculated birth year is 1784; her calculated birth year according to the 1851 Canada West census is 1792; her calculated birth year according to the 1861 Canada West census is 1793.
Evidence found for a Patrick Lahy in townland of Pallas, Civil Parish of Donohill, Tipperary South:
- Parish registers baptism registrations for several children (see below);
- Tithe Applotment Books: 1 acre 3 roods 37 perches
- Patrick Lahy is not found in Griffith’s Valuation for Pallas; however, there is a James Lahy in Pallas occupying 24 acres, 1 rood, 25 perches (map reference 4)
Alternatively, it is also possible that Patrick may have been a tenant of Vincent Scully living in the townland of Churchfield in the civil parish of Donohill (see Valuation Office books dated 6th June 1848).
Patrick, Ally, and family emigrated to Loughborough Township, Frontenac County, Canada West about 1850. He is found in the 1851 Canada West census living with his youngest son, Michael, and Mary Ryan (nee Lahey -- likely Patrick's daughter, abt. 1806-1889), her husband, Daniel Ryan (abt. 1800-1855) and their children.
Children of Patrick Lahey and Alice Ryan likely include: Mary Lahey Ryan (abt. 1806-1889), James Lahey (4 Nov 1817-20 May 1893), Bridget Lahey (abt. 1818-?), Margaret Lahy (2 Nov 1823-1911?), Patrick Lahey (9 May 1826-27 July 1880), Michael Lahey (17 Feb. 1835-19 Feb. 1864).
