Migrated to/Born in USA

Grt grt grf. Richard O'Leary, b circa 1800, Kiskeam, Co. Cork (Kerry Parish) Parents, Michael O'Leary (1775) Kate Lynch (1777) Kiskeam. (buried in Kilbrin/Kanturk) Richard married Anne Dumas in Bouleenshere Feb.1826. (Causeway Parish St. John the Baptist) Son (grt grf) Michael b. Dec.1826 Bouleenshere.

Richard may have married again circa 1836 to Bridget Sullivan of Newtown, (Moyvane?) and had five more kids, two in Bouleenshere. Don't know what happened to Anne Dumas. Have not found burial records of Richard, Anne or Bridget in Kerry. Found death record of a Richard & Anne O'Leary in West Derby, Lancashire (Liverpool area) 1878, but until maiden name of Dumas comes up, no confirmation.

Michael migrated to Wales during or just after the 1846/49 famine, but don't know if his parents went with him. He married Johanna Sullivan, dtr of Ellen Moriarty (b.1811 Kerry) & Patrick Sullivan, (b.1806 Kerry) in Ebbw Vale, Wales 1855. Parents of Ellen, John Moriarty & Mary Farley, Kerry. Patrick & Ellen buried in Ebbw Vale, Wales 1874 & 1885. Michael & Johanna had eight kids between 1856 & 1874, grf. Michael Patrick, Ellen, Mary Ann, Catherine, John, Thomas, William & Anna. All migrated to USA between 1881 & 1890 and settled in Sharon & New Castle, PA, except for Ellen who died in Victoria, Wales in 1884.

  • Rethinking possibility that Richard maay not have been born circa 1800 in Kiskeam, Co. Cork to Michael O'Leary & Kate Lynch. Richard's dad may have been John instead of Michael. Richard O'Leary & Anne Dumas Causeway Parish marrriage record in Feb of 1826 records a John O'Leary & a James Dumas a witnesses to the marriage. James Dumas was Anne's dad, so I have to ssume that John O'Leary was Richard's dad. Grt grf Michael's birth cert in Dec. of 1826 records the witnesses as John & Hanora O'Leary. Again, a strong indication that these two were Richard's parents. Stay tuned. Will have Kerry Kate & Martine Brennan follow through on this speculation. . Don - Indianapolis, Indiana
