Based on the birth locations of their children, Thomas and Elizabeth were married about 1804 in Ireland. Their children born there, who arrived with them, included: an unknown male child born about 1805, Jane born 1808, Christopher Faris also born about 1808, Eliza 1810, Mary born 1812, Margaret 1816. Another unknown daughter was born August 1819, so Elizabeth must have been heavily pregnant when they left Ireland on 10 May 1819. Two other daughters were born in Harper: Isabella 1824 and Dorothea 1825. This property was about Lat: 44.920° N and Lon: 76.355° W. Settled on the other 100 acres was another emigrant Archibald Campbell and family whose home faced what is now Keays Road. Three years after arrival, Thomas and Elizabeth had constructed the dwelling and fulfilled the other terms of Settlement in order to receive final grant of the land. Often friends and relatives were settled near each other so they could help each other with those settlement duties. It's unknown if there was any link between the Campbell and Gunness families before they left Ireland.
Before he died, Thomas would been able to enjoy his first three grandchildren: Stanley, Elizabeth and Thomas Briggs, who lived about 3 km west. Another daughter, Eliza and her husband Willliam Pratt had moved to Stanley's Corners Goulborne Twp shortly after their marriage in 31 March 1828
