Timothy Allman was born in September 1854, the youngest child of Timothy Allman and Johanna Lynch. He emigrated sometime in the 1870's - with a stop in Japan and settled in San Francisco by 1880. He married Margaret Mullen in 1880 and had 8 children with her but only 4 survived childhood. He worked for the Spring Valley Water Dept in San Francisco until he died of Tuberculosis in 1892.
