Dunicans in Ferbane and Clonmacnoise

We are chasing Irish ancestors from RC Parishes Clonmacnoise and Ferbane who emigrated to the U.S.  I will use the spelling Dunican, however in the States the name became Dunigan, but family records in Offaly use a variety of spellings (e.g. Dunican, Dunigan, Donegan, Doonagin, Doonakin, etc.)  James Dunigan (b circa 1806 to 1815)  and Michael Dunigan (born circa 1810) both were in Washington Co. Ohio, US by 1840.  James had a son James born in Co. Offaly circa 1835.  Stephen Dunigan ended up in Washington Co., Ohio as well by 1850.  Stephen and his wife Ann Conner had two daughters baptized in RC Parish Banagher who also emigrated to Ohio.  They were Ann Doonakin (baptized 19 Feb 1839) and Mary (baptized 17 Nov 1841).  John Donegan (Dunigan)(b circa 1770 to 1780) emigrated to the Cinncinati, OH area as did his son John Kieran Dunigan (b circa 1831). John Kieran died in 1904 in Columbus, OH.

There was a Peter Dunican (born circa 1821-1829) who married Catherine Kelly.  They had several children and in 1901 Peter and Catherine were living in Carrowkeel.  Peter died in 1904 and his wife Catheriine was still in Carrowkeel in 1911.  Three of their children emigrated to Philadelphia, PA.  Thomas (b circa 1875) died in Philadelphia in 1951.  Patrick (b circa 1882) died in 1970, and their son John (b circa 1889) died in 1970.

We expect that Peter Dunican may have been related to the Dunigans who emigrated to Ohio, but we have not yet documented that possibility.

We are going to spend the day in Clonmacnoise, Ferbane, Banagher area on Friday, August 3 "chasing" Dunican ancestors. 

Any information that can be provided to help us make connections with anyone who might know the history of Dunigans (Dunicans, etc.) who emigrated to the U.S. would be greatly appreciated.
