I have researched my maternal family who include the Wigmore family from Alresford in Hampshire, UK
George Wigmore married Emily J Carpenter in 1867 and had two children, Annie b 1868 and Akice b 1869. It is recorded that Emily died in 1870 in Mount Mellick, Co Laois. I cannot find any further information about this and am wondering whether there is a grave in Mount Mellick which will show more details. I have a photo of George with his two children and one of himself taken by Lauder Brothers in Dublin, together with a picture of Annie in her late teens also taken by Lauder Brothers in Dublin, so I am wondering what the Irish connection is. I would be grateful for any help from your members.
Thank you

I found a transcription of Emily's 26 Nov. 1870 death record on rootsireland. She died of scarlatina at age 29. A poulter's wife, she lived in Killenduff, Co. Laois. The parish/district was Cloneygowan/Laois.

Yes this is the same George Wigmore, as I said he married Emily Carpenter b 1839(Woking, Surrey) in 1867 and had Annie and Alice but Emily died and he then married Amelia Smith in 1873 in Epsom, Surrey, I have all the Census Returns for George apart from 1861 and 1871. Annie Elizabeth Wigmore is my maternal Great Grandmother, she married Arthur Henry Bryant who is my mothers paternal Grandfather. I have not found any other death record in the area for Emily and the only one shown as 1870 Mountmellick seemed to coincide with information I have. In the 1871 Census both Annie and Alice were living with their grandparents, Emily's mother and father. I had assumed that as George and the girls had had photos taken in Dublin that this Emily was ours. However, your information shows that the Emily who died in Mountmellick was born in Ireland. This is obviously not the same one. Very strange. Thank you for your time and for responding. I shall have to see if I can locate any further information on our Emily.
Best wishes.
