I have recently received some more information to help me.
The Sisters of St John of God ,Wexford pointed me to an Obituary
from 11/10/1913 Wexford People.
Two Flannery names ,priest Rev F Flannery Uncle of my great aunt
deacon Maurice O Connell cousin of great aunt
Is there a way of tracking their families to Ellen Flannery, my great grandmother ?

  • Steve:

I had to go back to your prior two messages from late May to try to piece together your family info. Messages are here for other volunteers.

Ellen Flannery married Denis Ralleigh in 1877 and the civil marriage record shows that her father was Francis Flannery.

Does the obituary from 1913 show the first name of the deceased.?There are not many names which start with an F and if his name was Francis, he could not have been an uncle to Ellen Flannery if her father was Francis. Also, how old was Rev. F. Flannery?  Maybe he was a first cousin. Your best free sources for research would be found on irishgenealogy.ie  The Church Tab will provide church records for Co. Cork and the Civil record Tab will provide civil reocrds starting 1864.

  • Hi there.
The requiem mass was for Suzannah Raleigh (nun ) . She was a daughter of Ellen flannery.1859 - 1901who
    married my great grandfather.
We think her father was Francis Flannery 1821- 1908, draper from Churchtown.
If so there is a possible thread back to other Flannery "s and so worth a visit to the area.
