Hi All, I am researching the GUILFOYLE family from Moneygall. I first encounter them on 25th August 1839 at Kensington, London when William Guilfoyle marries Charlotte Austin. At the time William was 25 years old and a gardener working at Kew Gardens. After the birth of their first 3 (of 12) children the emigrate to Australia, and William opens the first Plant Nursery in Double Bay, a suburb of Sydney. On the ships manifest, William states his birthplace as Moneygall, Kings Co., Ireland. I have, as yet, not been able to find any parish records re my Guilfoyle family in Moneygall. Any help greatly appreciated.

Dear Pat, thank you for your message. This is a very interesting find. Yes, Guilfoyle’s of Moneygall still exist. My father’s family are the only family left in Moneygall. Where are you located? I myself relocated to Sydney two years ago and have come across the name here. Kind regards Laura Guilfoyle
