I have Haney ancestors who came from Tullamore, Offaly.Parents were Terence Haney and Mary Pendergast. Children were Ann, born Nov. 1822; Maria, born 1837; and Thomas born Oct 1832. There may be other children that I don't know about. All three of these siblings came to the United States and married here. they lived in New Baltimore, New York. Maria Haney married Patrick Dolan (also an immigrant from Ireland) in 1855. She was my great great grandmother. Their daughter, Catherine dolan, married andrew Kennah in albany, NY. the Kennahs also lived in County Offaly but I don't know where. I am hoping to visit Tullamore in May 2022 and would appreciate any information I could get about where to locate a birth certificate for the Haney children. I also note that the name was sometimes spelled as Heany but usually spelled as Haney here in the US. Thanks you for any help you can give.

Hi
My name is Liz here in Tullamore.
The years will be very difficult as church records are only from about 1840s. there were really no civil records from before that time. if they were church of ireland you may be able to find some baptimal record as their records go back to about 1750.
If you have the energy you could trawl through the catholic church records now on line at NLI.ie this is the National Library in Dublin . This is hard work as I have done this myself and it is very ardous or contact the church in Tullamore at tullamoreparishsecretary@gmail.com
You can also contact the Offaly Historical Society at Tullamore, They will trace your family for you and the charge is only about 50 euros, this is the way I would go, easy
Have you tried Ellis island in New York for entries to US at around this time also the US census in the area you think they may have gone to
There are Heaneys here around Tullamore, no Haneys as that was the guy at Castle Gardens all those years ago, using his own spelling
People and priest of that time did not always keep records,
I hope you have some luck.
Liz

Thank you so much for your help. I have looked at US records extensively, including Ellis Island but I will try there again. Mary
