Hey all,
At a bit of a stalemate with my Great Grand Father James Dyer. I have located records of his marriage to my Great Grandmother Margaret Carry in 1903 in Birr. I have since traced her family back to Galway/Roscommon however I cannot seem to find much on James. I know that his fathers name was John. On the marriage certificate it said he was living in Eden...I can only presume this is Edenderry??
Hope someone is connected or can help? I dont know where or when he died either.

Hello again!
I looked for James and John in the 1901 census and they were not in Kings Co. (Co. Offaly) unless there surname was spelled differently. I noted that John's occupation on the 1903 marriage record was tradesman so he may have travelled around.
One thing you do is search www.irishgenealogy.ie for James Dyer civil birth records from 1883 back to 1864 where the father was John. Don't limit your search to Co. Offaly. You might get some good leads.

Thanks Roger! I think I found some in Legatinty, Roscommon. As you said, if he was a tradesman and travelled perhaps that’s how James ended up in Eden...I am presuming Eden is short for Edenderry
