Seeking any information on the family of John Molloy. My great grandfather
He appears on 1911 census, living in Melsop Street - age 40
Have his marriage certificate to Mary Jane Browne
in 1901. Fathers name Pat Molloy (RLC). Cannot find any record of him or his father on 1901 census.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Helo Angela
Had a look but cannot find a definite entry on 1901 census for John. I have seen record of his marriage to Jane Browne on 15th August 1901. There is a slight discrepancy on his record on the 1911 census where it states that they were married 11 years. As the census was taken in April they would only have been married for 9 years at that time. It also states that they have had 5 children and5 living, but there are only 4 on the census. Do you know details of their children. I have seen 3 different addresses for John on 3 records, Mellsop St on the Census. Townsend St on his marriage Certificate and Poiund St on the record of a daughter Mary's birth on 14/8/1916. There is one record of a John with the correct age (30) in 1901 living with his mother Margaret in Birr. Only thing is that John is a Cooper and Margaret is a widow. Do you have John's Birth Certificate records? If you have that would help find more information, ie his mother's name? John's father's details on his marriage cert gives his occupation as RIC (not RLC as it looks like on the record) That means if Pat was living in a Barracks at time of the 1901 census his name will not be recorded. For security reasons RIC personnel were only recorded by their initials on the census. Not giving you any definite information but if you have he Birth records let me know and I may be able to help further.
Kind regards

Hello Margaret
Unfortunately the only other information I have is John's death date as June 8th 1935, and children I know of are Robert, Patrick, Margaret (my grandmother), Betty, James and Maureen.
Many thanks for your help
