The only information on my Mothers gggrandfather Richard Lawler is that he came over to England around 1850 accompanied by his wife Ellen or Helen ( surname unknown). They state on an English Census that they were both from Maryborough. His Son was also named Richard born in 1832 approx and Richard's fiancee Eliza Kilfoile also came over possibly with Eliza's parents as well.
This is all the information I have .... Any help would be gratefully received.
Many thanks

John:
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a Richard Lawler/Lalor baptismal record in Co. Laois with father Richard until 1878.
I did find two baptismal records of interest in the Portlaoise RC records
Catherine Lalor August (no exact date) 1835 in Portlaoise (Maryborough) RC church parents Richard Lalor Elizabeth Whelan
Mary Lalor September (no exact date) 1837 in Portlaoise (Maryborough) RC church same parents
Richard and Betty Whelan were married August 1, 1832 in the Raheen RC church
You did not mention sisters to Richard but you may want to consider this family if they were from Maryborough.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Roger.
Many thanks for your research.
I believe that Catherine and Mary may well have been Richard's children and sister to Richard the younger.
The slight problem would seem to be that our English records show Richard senior as been married to an Ellen or Helen.
Out of interest... how do places Maryborough,Queens, Laois, Portlaoise, sort of fit together.....?
Thanks

John:
Portlaoise is a larger town and Maryborough is a village about 2.4 kilometers northwest of Portlaoise.
