Looking for information on branch of family from Laois (Queen's County) who are related to Edward Nolan born about 1827 and emigrated about 1855 to USA. Plenty of information in USA records but cannot find anything in Ireland as a common name. Also a possible brother James Marshall Nolan who also emigarted about the same time

Informant 2:Mary LearyI couldn't find a James (or any other children) with the above parents but did find this one from the same parish:
Name:James NolanDate of Birth:30-Jul-1829
Date of Baptism:Not RecordedAddress:BallickmoylerParish/District:ArlesGender:
CountyCo. Laois
Denomination:
Father:James NolanMother:Peggy HartyOccupation:

Informant 2:Anne FarrellPerhaps the fathers, Patt & James, were brothers so the boys were cousins? (I couldn't find a birth/baptism record c 1800 for either in Laois)
I couldn't find a marriage record for either of the parents I'm afraid.
I compared the parents of the 21 Patrick Nolans born 1800 + - 10 years with those of the 16 James Nolans born in the same years from all the counties available but could not find parents in common!!

Hi Col,
many thanks for you help. These Nolan's, Edward and James Marshall, are somehow linked to my great (x3) grandfather John Nolan who married Margaret Bell in 1845 (if my research is correct). This is because I have had my DNA tested and their decendants, my cousins, are close matches on all 111 lines I have had tested. We are on a unique branch of the clan created when a Nollent married a French widowed Countess Ozement in the 16th century, and she changed her son's names. Were all related to these sons. Frustratingly, I can research back to 500 AD on the Ozment family through the French nobility records, but not forward on the Nolan side. Somewhere in 1800's my Nolans moved to the South Dublin area. My great grandfather working as a wagon driver. So oral family history goes, and died of intoxication.
Brian
