Looking for any information and assistance on my g-g grandfather Patrick Kennedy b. March 1797 Templemore and his wife Margaret. Her maiden name was probably McDonnel, b 1813. I believe they lived on a small farm on the townland of Kilclareen. Any info re Kilclareen?

Patrick's parents were John Kennedy and Ellen Sweeney. Margaret's parents were possibly Robert McDonnel and Ellen Mackey.

Patrick and Anne married in the Sacred Heart Church in Templemore on Nov 24, 1829. They had ten children.

  • Matthew born Jan 1, 1831 , Robert born about 1834, James born July 31, 1835, Ellen born Nov 25, 1837, John born Dec 6, 1839, Mary born Jan 17,1841, Anne born Apr 10, 1843, Margaret born Aug 25, 1845, Catherine born Aug 13, 1848, Patrick born about 1853                                                                                                                    They came to Australia in 1859.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your reply.

    The townland must be KIlclareen....oops.

They were Catholic, but I can't sustantiate any of those dates of birth. I don't have actual Baptism records.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi,
I used the actual dates you have for Ann's birth, as Christina says there are gaps. I did look in neighbouring records.
I noticed in Find a Grave site that the headstone says Patrick Kennedy and his wife Ann.

This is Ann's Baptism, 10th April 1843, Mother Ann.  The townland, not clear but I would say it's Kilclareen
