  • Not sure which records you have already on your Ryan/Larkin family - I'll add a few details that might help others recognize this family...

William Ryan born 12th January 1883, Cloghan Castle, King's Co. (*)
Bridget Ryan born 16th December 1884, Cloghan Castle
Margaret Ryan born 4th March 1887, Cloghan Castle
Anne Ryan born 25th August 1889, Cloghan Castle, King's Co.
Nora/Hanorah Ryan born 10th January 1894, Rockview, Co. Tipperary
Mary Ryan born 17th May 1896, Annagh, Co. Tipperary
Elizabeth Ryan born 29th June 1901, Clongowna, Co. Tipperary

all born to parents Thomas Ryan and Margaret Larkin, first four registered in Banagher sub-district, in Parsonstown/Birr Registration district, Nora, Mary and Elizabeth registered in Riverstown sub-district, in Parsonstown/Birr Registration district.

*) Cloghan Castle is in the townland named 'Cloghan Demesne' in Lusmagh civil parish.

Marriage of Thomas Ryan and Margaret Larkin took place on the 19th November 1881 at Banagher Catholic Church King's Co/Co. Offaly, the groom's father was William Ryan a shepherd, the bride's father Martin Larkin a farmer,. Residence for the groom is recorded as Lusmagh, and Margaret's residence is Cloghan Castle. Witnesses to the marriage were John Quirk and Bessie Tuite.

This seems to be your Ryan/Larkin family on the 1901 census, at Clongowna townland, Co. Tipperary, and in 1911 this Ryan family are at Killinaule townland, Co. Tipperary.

  • Thank you guys.... I have the info you all posted... however learn ing the birth places were the same as Anna's at Cloghan Castle helped a lot. The problem is I dont know ANYTHING about them other then records I've found... I have NO CLUE as to who Anna's siblings married. I'm planning a trip next year & I was hoping to meet family. Its frustrating that there obviously was a rift between them & now I'm missing out.
