Hello, my name is Betsy Witt. My ancestors, James Kelso and his wife, Margaret Long, immigrated to the United States from Templemore in 1845 or 1846. They settled in Olmsteadville, New York. James died in 1856 (born 1780) and Margaret died in 1847 (born 1787). They were Methodists. I cannot locate any records on them. In 1983, my mother and I traveled to Templemore and found no Methodist church. We went to Roscrea and spoke with the Methodist minister there who informed us that the Methodist records had been sent to Belfast for safekeeping (I thought this was ironic). He gave us the address to locate the records, but I received no response when I sent a letter. In 1983, there were still Kelsos living in Templemore, but we didn't ring them up to find if we were related to them. My niece, April, and I are traveling to Ireland on 3 June 2018. We plan on being in Templemore on Wednesday, 13 June, as we will be following the route Aodh O'Donnell's army took from Donegal to the fateful battle in Kinsale. We would love to locate some records on our family before we arrive in the country and we would love to meet some of our relatives, if we have any there. Regards, Betsy Witt

Dear Betsy:
Many thanks for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site.
It is great to hear that you will be visiting Ireland this summer and I have forwarded this query to our local volunteer in Templemore who may be able to assist you.
You should expect to hear from her within the next two weeks. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at: jhalloranryan@irelandxo.com.
Kind regards,
Jane.
