I have a wedding register entry for the wedding of my 4th ggf Laurence Drought and Jane Strickket in Borris in Ossory in 1782.
Both were"of the 14th lancers" and I am keen to have more information about them. Ideally their respective parents or something to shed light on their lives at the time.
Any small snippets will help.

Hi Brian,
It looks like the marriage license (transcribed on rootsireland) gives the county as Kilkenny, not Laois. And Jane lived in St. Mary Parish in Kilkenny, not Laois.
Brian was in the military, but not Jane.
I hope this is helpful.

The transcription of her baptismal cert on RootsIreland shows Mabella Drought, child of Laurence and Jane, was baptized 1 Jan. 1784 in the parish of Clonmel, Co. Waterford. Laurence was (quarter?) master of the 14th Dragoons.

That's great, thanks. I suspected Mabella and now have proof.
The newspaper clipping quotes "Jane, of said regiment" I assume her father (Stephen) was in the same regiment as Laurence - as was his son John.
Also new areas to explore.
