I was just in Castlebar and believe I have found what was left of my Walsh family home.  According to the most recent information, the family appeared to live in Drumneen, by Aghadrina, south of the new bypass going around Castlebar.  A neighbor told me he thought the family might have moved to Turlough, and thought there might have been an Ernest Walsh.  Information from the clearing by Lord Lucan indicates that the family may have moved to the Mount Daisy/Derrywash area for a while, although the baptismal record from the Aglish parish in Castle bar for my gr grandmother, Sarah Agnes Walsh in 1853, indicates that they lived in Drumneen.  If anyone know of any Walsh family members who have ancestors who may have lived in any of the above areas, I would love to hear from you.

The family names were

Richard Walsh b around 1802,

wife Mary

son Martin b around 1830

daughter Hannah Marie b around 1843

son John Henry b around 1848

daughter Bridget b around 1850

daughter Sarah Agnes bap Feb 1853

The men were all stone masons

Thank you!

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and it appears that Mary's maiden name was also Walsh. I found five other baptismal records in Aglish where the parents were Richard Walsh and Mary Walsh: Honoria 1842 (likely your Hannah) Michael 1843 Ellen 1844 Patrick 1847 John 1850. I did not find the marriage record. A;so. baptismal records were not available back to 1830 so I could not verify Martin.

The 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household records show two Richard Walsh records. One Richard lived in the town on Spencer St. and the other lived in Knockcroghery townland. As stone masons, it is possible that Richard Walsh did not have enough land to show up in the Griffiths.
