Professional research leads us to believe that our family may be descended from a William Dannaher listed in the 1827 Tithe Applotment Books.  William Dannaher was shown as sharing 18 acres of land with Patrick Larkin, the Widow Larkin and William Gleeson.  This property was situated in the townland of Sallybank.  William Dannaher was a blacksmith.

William Dannaher married Margaret Keogh.  Their daughter Mary Dannaher (born 1814 County Clare, died 1889 Australia), married James McMahon (born 1812, County Clare, died 1868 Australia).  The parents of James McMahon were Patrick McMahon and Rachel Johnson.

James and Mary McMahon (nee Dannaher) emmigrated to Port Phillip Bay, Australia, aboard the "Theresa", arriving on 18 August 1840.  The family eventually settled in the Monaro district, NSW, Australia.  James and Mary McMahon had seven children: Catherine Lynch (1840-1908), Margaret Murphy (1843-1884), John McMahon (1844-1845), Mary Power (1846-1899), James McMahon (1848-1904), Andrew McMahon (1850-1920) and Thomas McMahon (1852-1918).

James and Mary McMahon's (nee Dannaher) daughter Catherine Lynch (nee McMahon, 1840-1908), married Owen Lynch (1829-1891) who came from the Townland of Tony Owen Upper, in the Parish of Foyran, County Westmeath.  Owen and Catherine Lynch (nee McMahon) married at Cooma, NSW, Australia in 1851.

Today the family of William and Margaret Dannaher (nee Keogh) have thousands of descendants living in Australia.
