My grandfather, Thomas Knox was, I believe, born in Killeen, Inistiogue on 10 Oct 1860  of Bartholomew Knox b. Abt 1811 d. 18 Feb 1890 who on 7 Feb 1842 married Catherine Egan/Hegan/Hagen in Ballyshane.  Catherine was b. Abt. 1815 and d. 13 Aug 1897 in Killeen. It is said that the Knox family were stonecutters and were brought from Scotland to assit in the building of Woodstock House and many relatives still reside on property formerly belonging to that estate.

My grandfather, Thomas, emigrated to the USA in the early 1880s and listed his occupation as "stonecutter" in many documents.  He worked as a stonecutter in Litchfield County, Connecticut where he settled and raised nine children with his wife Mary Foley b. in Co. Wexford.

I would love to know more about the Knox family including siblings of Thomas as well as those of Bartholomew (my father's name was also Bartholomew Knox).  I'm especially interested in finding information about which ancestors (what century/year) came from Scotland and from what part of Scotland if there is information that exists.

I will be visting in October of this year and am hoping to visit some family members with whom I've made contact but as there are many generations involved, family history is vague to the younger generation. I will be very grateful for any information that can be provided prior to my visit so that I can make the most of my short time there.
