My ancestor from Ireland is Michael Dunn. He was born 1 April 1833 in Kilkenny to Oryan Dunn and Coleen Mcginnes. He came to America via Canada. The story told is he came with a tinker as a child. No date, no name of who brought him, no port of arrival or where he enter the US or when. He is listed on the 1860 census in Potter county Pennsylvania living with a family as a farm hand. He was a soldier in the Civil War and was wounded in Twennessee He lost both legs. He married in Tennessee Sarah Elizabeth Ellison. The military shiped him by train in a barrell of cotton home to Pennsyhlvania where his wife and her mother and siblings joined him. They had 2 sons and 4 daughters before his death in 1877.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched on Roots Ireland in Co. Kilkenny for Michael Dunn baptismal records from 1828-1838. There were 28 Michael Dunn baptismal records in this period but none had a mother Coleen or McGinnis or a father Oryan. The only record in 1833 is below and this Michael was baptized on April 15th.
