According to family sources in Ireland, my ancestor William Maher was from Barnaboy in the civil parish of Kyle and county of Laios.
My William was born around 1862, emigrated to the US around 1884, married Margaret Cosgrove in New York in 1892 and died in New Jersey in 1907.
The Maher family in Barnaboy at the time was that of William Maher and first wife Anne Tracy (or Meara), whom he married in 1848, and second wife Anastasia (Fitzpatrick) Delany, whom he married in 1859. The house where the family lived is still standing.
With Anne he had Michael (possibly), Bridget, William and Cornelius. With Anastasia he had William, Margaret, Patrick and John. Since there were two Williams, I assume the first one died young. The second was born in 1860, which is close enough for him to have been my ancestor William. John definitely came to the US and married a Mary Maher in 1894.
I am trying to confirm that I am connected to this family and make contact with other relatives. My family has given a DNA sample, so potential relatives can be confirmed that way. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Ricky, thank you for the reply! I also visited the Maher homestead in July of 2010. I'm attaching a photo taken by my wife. The house was owned by a Fitzpatrick, but he died within the past couple of years. I have seen the Teehan and Phelan names on many documents from the area. You and I are probably related through one of these families, although I have not found any connection between my line and either the Teehan or Phelan family.
Thanks again for the info!
