I checked Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie and found two possible baptismal records for a Cantwell child with parents James and Catherine. The two records were in 1834 and 1845 and they were recorded in the Rosenallis RC church records. Possibly these records are for your family. NOTE: neither record was for a Mary.

The RC church in Rosenallis corresponds to two different civil parishes: Rosenallis and Castlebrack which are both in the northwest part of Co. Laois.

thank you so much . I have been searching for the last two years but had no luck. Any information however small is worth looking into. I will ask someone who has a subscription to roots to take a look for me . It does sound a possibility , as they did have more children. I will need to check. Y records on their names.
